He is half English and half German and grew up in Brighton (UK) and Frankfurt (Germany). After finishing his studies of Social Sciences in Göttingen, Germany last year he worked in development cooperation.
Currently, he is working for an NGO in Brussels. It was in Latin America where he discovered MUNs when he was a year abroad in Colombia. As part of the delegation of his Colombian university he took part in a simulation of the OEA in Washington.
Again in Europe, he participated four times in a row in his home MUN in Göttingen as a delegate and a chair. In addition, he was a delegate at other MUNs such as VIMUN, ELBMUN and ZAGIMUN and chaired at MOSTIMUN, MUNUSAL and NAPOMUN.
He has great memories of MUNUSAL 2012 as he was not only part of a great organising team, but also met many interesting people and very much enjoyed the tapas and the music in the beautiful town of Salamanca.
He is very much looking forward to returning to MUNUSAL 2013 and make the conference yet another success. |

Nathalie generally describes herself as a blondie with a brain full of politically incorrect jokes, wicked historical facts, tunes from the 70s, startling thoughts about society and a hidden talent for painting ugly things. She loves to travel, and she spends her free time glimpsing the Ryanair website to find her next destination. She also loves writing, overanalyzing, reading old books, and making people around her laugh as much as they can.
She was born and raised in Isla Margarita, Venezuela, and she has always had a keen interest in world politics and international affairs. Being half Belgian, she decided to move to the beautiful city of Leuven to continue her university studies, and there she also had the pleasure to continue with her favourite hobby: MUNs! She now studies European Law in Maastricht University, in the Netherlands. Currently, she is also active in the United Nations Student Association in Maastricht, where she works organizing and training students to attend MUNs abroad.
As a proper MUN-devotee, she has participated in many conferences as delegate and as chair. MUNUSAL, however, is by far one of her favourite conferences; perhaps because of its extraordinary multicultural aspect, or because of its amazing professional vibrancy, she can assure you that MUNUSAL is one of the most special MUNs you could ever attend.
She is very honoured to work together with Daniel this year, and she can guarantee you that MUNUSAL will be filled with fascinating debates, amazing academic content, surprises, crazy social events, and the most awesome people you will ever meet.
"The first testicular guard (the "Cup") was first used in Hockey in 1874, and the first helmet was used in 1974, that means that it took 100 years for men to realize that their brain is also important."

Born a couple of years before the fall of the Berlin Wall, Irina grew up in 1990s Bucharest, during the so called transition decade of the former Eastern Bloc countries. After obtaining her BA in International Relations and European Studies, Irina changed the "Little Paris of the East' for the Gothic city of Leuven where she studied, among other things, EU Studies and Anthropology. Founding member of KULMUN (K.U.Leuven Model UN Student Association) and concept developer of the KULMUN NEWSWIRE, this MUN regular is currently splitting her time between her internship as EU project manager, her thesis for her MS degree and several projects she's part of.
If you'll ask around, you'll be told that Irina is "short, energetic, loud, assertive, friendly, dissolute, dictatorial, loyal, extremely honest" and apparently a "good desserts chef". If you'll ask her, she'll tell you she's geeky, impulsive and sometimes l(cr)azy, as she will always trade any grown-up activity for extra time to read a good book, watch a Woody Allen movie, a football match, TV series or animes and, most importantly, to sleep.
Her second MUNUSAL experience puts her for the second time in the media team, as Editor in Chief of The Globe. Irina's hopes and dreams from the upcoming conference? Well, you'll just have to follow The Globe in April and figure that out on your own.

This will be Kalina's second MUNUSAL and she can assure you that once you try it, it will become an addiction. Talking about her addictions, must mention good journalism, literature, politics, hardcore, punk, oi and ska music, violent mosh pit concerts and Trainspotting. If you by any chance know what she means with the last three categories and in addition you also enjoy the first three she mentioned – you are more than welcome to share your tapas with her in Salamanca (or SaLOVEmanca, as she prefers calling it).

Sonya was born and raised in Sofia , Bulgaria . She holds a Masters Degree from KU Leuven in European Studies: Transnational and Global perspective, as well as a double bachelor degree in European Studies and in Political Science and International Relations from the American University in Bulgaria . Currently she is working for a consultancy company contracted by the European Commission for the implementation of short-term Technical Assistance mission for the benefit of the Developing countries, as well was pre-accession and EU neighborhood countries
Her passion in MUNs developed back in her high-school years, as a member of the American College of Sofia MUN club. Since then, she attended numerous conferences, including NATO conferences, MEUs and especially MUNs, in which she was fervently involved as delegate, as chair, and as organizer. Thanks to her thirst in meeting new people, travelling and at the same time benefiting from opportunities to broaden her knowledge, she has visited countless charming cities from the American West Coast to midland Russia.
Sonya is looking forward to chair the Security Council and to meet many unfamiliar faces. She believes that this first Salamancan experience will be mind-opening and life-changing experience for most of the participants and that the MUN virus will be spread around all delegates.

It is his first experience in MUNUSAL and the decision to apply came from the extremely positive feedbacks about this conference and also the rumours about its incredible social events… He is more than ready to participate with a lot of enthusiasm, wishing to positively involve all the participants to the discussion, strongly believing in the values shared during these events. Moreover, he is honoured and delighted to chair the MUNUSAL 2013 United Nations Security Council simulation, where the most important decisions to affect change in the world are taken.

Jeroen Stevens is currently finishing his Masters in Comparative and International Politics at the Catholic University of Leuven and in International Business, Economics and Management at HU Brussel. He got dragged into the World of MUN-ing 4 years ago, and has almost immediately caught its highly contagious virus. During these 4 years, he has been involved in several MUNs throughout Europe and has been involved in the organization of Belgium's very first International MUN conference: KULMUN. After 3 years of delegating, started his chairing career, chairing European Parliament. It is not surprising that he continues chairing European institutions, as Jeroen is a big believer in the European Project and all of its subsequent institutions.

Being born in wintering Glasgow, Scotland Mohamed comes from a spicy mixed middle eastern family (Armenian/Egyptian/Turkish/Kurdish).Spending the first 8 years of his life in the UK & Brussels till destiny leads him back to The land of the Pharaohs by the age of 12 where he is currently established; Graduated from Sadat Academy for management sciences with a bachelor's degree in human resources & a minor in economics, Out of pure coincidence on the age of 17 he has applied for CIMUN in Cairo, Egypt where he got infected with a known syndrome diagnosed by many as: "MUN Delirious Psychosis".
Yet that addiction had fortunately gotten him a job at UNESCO for 2 years and in the process a master's degree in international development, a diploma in training from Cambridge university and a certified mastery in emotional intelligence has been finally accomplished as well; now working proudly as a senior training specialist for an organization in Cairo.
Though expecting diplomats in the committee who will work hard & party even harder. MUNUSAL will be a healthy environment for all talents, memories, achievements & scandals to shine. So do make it memorable.
"When a diplomat says YES he means PERHAPS; when he says PERHAPS he means NO; when he says NO he is NO diplomat" (Jonathan Wright)

Born and raised in Bulgaria, Maria is happy to bring some Balkan flavour to the ICJ. She currently lives in London and studies European Studies at King's College London.
Her introduction into the MUN world was absolutely coincidental, but it opened the door to a whole new world of heated debates and incredible people, which had her hooked up from the very first minute. As she will most probably not admit herself, she was sort of terrified in the beginning, but it was exactly the exhilaration of the challenge and the nervous excitement in her belly, which she keeps coming back to. Having MUN play such a big part of her life, ever since her high school years, she feels like it has become a part of her personality, which would explain her strong passion for international affairs and political euphemisms. Maria loves surprises and doesn't take herself too serious, which makes up for some pretty good stories, which she wouldn't mind sharing over some sangria.
Having been part of MUNUSAL's incredible secretariat last year, she is more than excited to join all of you in the lovely city of Salamanca and chair the unique ICJ. She will give her best in order for her delegates to leave at the end of the week with incredible memories, new friends and the feeling of personal growth and fulfilment!

Laura was born in Munich, the capital of Bavaria. After having started her studies of law in Jena and studying in Paris for one year, she is currently studying in Wurzburg.
Her first MUN experiences were already during her school time in 2004 at MunoM and 2005 at THIMUN. At University she participated at the Security Council at IsarMUN, the International Court of Justice at the BerlInMUN and the UNCTAD at KaMUN. Her first chairing experience was at the General Assembly Fourth Committee at HamMUN. She also has a very thorough interest in International and European law, which she emphasizes in her studies.
The insights one can get at a simulation of the International Court of Justice into the life and functioning of such an international court are quite unique and valuable. Unfortunately this committee isn't found too often at MUNs. Therefore, she is especially excited and honored to chair this committee at MUNUSAL 2013 and make it a great experience for everyone participating.

Lara is a MUN-enthusiast and M.Sc. student of General Management at the Eberhard Karls University of Tübingen in a lovely little town of the same name in Southern Germany. Having grown up in Mexico City and as a true Metropolitan gal, she escaped to Boston and Moscow during her undergraduate degree in International Economics.
Covering topics in politics, economics and international relations during her studies she immediately decided to join the UN Students Association, where her interest for Model United Nations was raised in 2007. Since then, she has attended a lot of MUNs as a delegate, ranging from bigger ones such as NMUN NYC or The Harvard WorldMUN, to smaller and lovelier ones (ZagiMUN, MostiMUN and Tübingen MUN. etc.) She has also chaired a couple of MUNs and is therefore very excited about chairing the Ibero-American Summit. Lara is glad to have the opportunity to meet Latin-American and Spanish students debating in Spanish and writing declarations instead of resolutions. She is convinced that this challenge will be mastered by the delegates with the help of her Co-Chair Natalia Neira and herself.
She was told by a dear friend to insert a sentence about – quote: "hobbies, interests and or inspirational bullshit" – quote end, in order for it to sound less nerdy. So, as far as Lara's hobbies and interests are concerned: during her free time, if any, she likes to travel, learn new languages and experiment with computers. Concerning the inspirational issues, you can have a talk about that with her in Salamanca…
Lara is happy to be part of the 2013 edition of MUNUSAL and she is looking forward to a memorable experience with both aspiring and experienced delegates, old and new friends and of course: profound debates in the - what she has heard - so beautiful city of Salamanca.

Natalia finished her studies of Journalism in the Universidad Europea Miguel de Cervantes, in Valladolid. Her passion for international affairs, especially all issues related to Latin-America, motivated her to study Iberoamerican International Relations in the Universidad Rey Juan Carlos in Madrid, which she is currently studying as an MA.
Her adventure in the world of political simulations started in Strasbourg, France, in 2010. Then, she took part in Model European Union taking the role of EPP Poland. Her next adventure was MUNUSAL 2011 where she was part of the amazing press committee. During the same year, she took the role of press coordinator in CYLMUN and in 2012 took part in the first edition of OVIMUN chairing the ECOSOC. She also has experience organizing models. She is the President of BETA España, the association responsible of managing Model European Union Granada. Apart from MUNUSAL, in 2013 she will take part in the second edition of OVIMUN.
During her participation in all these models, she really appreciates the friendships that you can make and all the interesting people you always meet there. Besides, the international environment, with people from different cultures and backgrounds, is an experience that is worth enjoying at least once in your life.
She is pretty sure that MUNUSAL 2013 will be one of those experiences that you never forget and she can't wait to meet all the participants to enjoy an amazing week of learning and also having fun during the incredible nights we will spend in Salamanca.
