A model of United Nations (MUN) is an academic
simulation of the sessions that take place
in the United Nations. Here, students from
different universities have the opportunity
to act as real life delegates from the member
nations of this international organization.
The objectives of the Models are to negotiate
the problems that are currently being discussed
in the committees of the United Nations.
This is an educational and cultural event
that provides the student with the capacity
to understand international politics and
how it works throughout the United Nations,
thus giving the student a broader view of
the world and the problems that surround
us.
The participation in the model encourages
the student to know about the works of the
United Nations and its constant struggle
with improving the standard of living in
the world and the Parliamentary Procedure
and its incidence in the diplomatic relations
between the different member nations, as
well as discover and adopt a critical point
of view of the diverse problematic that affects
our world and encourage solidarity and good
will within humanity.
The model helps the student to improve certain
techniques of persuasion, negotiation, and
oratory, as well as build respect for the
diversities of opinion discussed in each
session. However, all of this techniques
should be applied through the parameters
of respect and diplomatic protocol that are
used in real life.
